Eastern Kentucky University Programs in Pre-Engineering

To the prospective engineering student: Eastern Kentucky University programs in pre-engineering are outlined below. The first two years of most engineering programs are similar (except for chemical engineering in which organic chemistry must be taken in the sophomore year). Therefore, it is not necessary for you to make a decision as to what branch of engineering you wish pursue immediately. The standard first two year engineering curriculum is outlined below. On this 2-2 option, you would transfer the credits you have earned to any standard engineering school in the U.S. Descriptions of courses are at the end of this page. A second option, 3-2 engineering is also described below. This program would afford you a baccalaureate degree from Eastern in physics or chemistry and an engineering degree from the University of Kentucky or Auburn University. A third option would be to take a baccalaureate degree in physics from Eastern and with good grades (better than a B average) apply to a graduate school in engineering. You may obtain a scholarship or fellowship which would pay your tuition and most of your expenses while in graduate school. (Many engineering graduate schools actively recruit physics majors.)
