Picture of Marco Ciocca

This photo, although not "fresh", is still less than a decade old ;)...

Hometown: Naples, Italy         Age : Yes, I am aged...

Piacere di conoscerla!

(it means glad to meet you, but very formal)

Now that you have had the pleasure of knowing what I look like (!), you may want to know other things about me...Click on the underlined words to see photos.

I am married to June Settle.  She can be seen here with Capri in the background with two strange dwarves ... Her middle name is Alice but no one outside her immediate West Virginia family is permitted to call her Junealice (you have to run it together as one word.  To learn how to speak like a southern West Virginian, click here http://www.hillbonics.com).  She may be seen here as well (again, she's the one in the middle...)

She's an excellent cook and I am half way decent myself.  Since I am Italian, she prepares Italian and West Virginian cuisines pretty well.  And ne'er shall the two meet on the same table (that is her speaking).

I have two children. William, 12, the Nintendo 64 (and now Gamecube) champ in the family, is in 6th grade at Clark Moores Middle School (Richmond, KY).  He used to like no food whatsoever, with the exception of pizza (pepperoni only) and hot dogs.  Now, however, he still complains a lot but he does eat a larger variety of foods (he now likes Hot and Sour Soup, the hotter the better...). He also likes Lego and building things.  He can be seen here with his brother Mark (can you say monster builders?)  Yu-Gi-Oh has also invaded our house...

Mark is 9, and, on his part, raises the term "food lover" to a new high...The kid likes artichokes and asks for Parmigiano for breakfast (he has good taste, I must say...).  Mark is in 3rd Grade, at Kit Carson Elementary, and is a member of the AAA (Attitude Achievement and Advancement) Club. He can be seen here and here with his brother William (we took these photos when visiting Naples, Italy, my home town).  He likes videogames and computers , and he works really hard on his homework (can you say staged photo?)

The last member of the family is Erin, the cat.  Despite his name, Erin used to be a boy (key word here is used, since he is a house cat, after all).  How he got that name is a story in itself.  Maybe I'll write it down one of these days...He can be seen here doing one of his favorite things.  He was born a St. Louis alley cat but has been a member of our family since he was 6 weeks old.  He will be 17 years old in July 2005!!!

I am a soccer fan...no, make that FOOTBALL, for God's sake, the one in which the feet are used to kick the ball and nobody uses full body armor...  I also, to my surprised European snobbishness, ADORE baseball.  I consider myself more than a casual observer of the game, and I can shamelessly say that I understand it better than many.  Having lived in St. Louis, MO, for 10 years leaves its mark on you...

I am a radio fanatic.  I like them all.  The large ones and the small ones.  The receiving ones and the transmitting ones.  I am a ham (please say that really fast, and my call sign is KY4MC.  I hang, not often, on 15 meters phone).  Lately I have been trying to get into heavy ones, or BOATANCHORS.  If you want to know what a boatanchor IS, click on the picture.

Just to give you a flavor of what is out there regarding Boatanchors and also to fill up the rest of this page, here's a bunch of links, in no particular order:

Nostalgia Air

National Radios
Phil's old Radios
Jim Zellmer Museum page
Boatanchors pix

Obviously my wife LOVES radios just as much as I do (If you believe this, I've got a couple of acres of prime vertical land to sell...). Like I said , check again this page in the near future, since this is a work in progress...

If you are still with me, go take a look at my astrophotography page
